The Problem

  • Upper-Egypt smallholder farmers face acute climate-water stress with no affordable decision-support tools.
  • Soil fertility decisions are made without data; over-irrigation and over-fertilization are common.
  • National extension programs need scalable, low-cost intelligence to support climate-resilient agriculture.

The Approach

  • ML models trained on real-world environmental and soil data covering 600+ Upper-Egypt soil samples.
  • IoT-enabled Smart Pot hardware prototype validated through a granted patent (Egypt No. 196/2023).
  • Optimization across three decision domains: water, fertilizer, soil treatment.
  • Designed for transfer: validated in Egypt; engineered to deploy with U.S. farmers, extension services, and federal research partners as goplanty.
